Malcom Gladwell’s Talking to Strangers forces you to think about how we understand people we don’t know through several high-profile case studies. Moral is: human beings are not transparent—they don’t telegraph the truth, we think they do, but the science says otherwise. This means that we are bad a detecting liars. My takeaway from all this is that you can’t assume anything about people based on your snap perceptions or assumptions about their behavior. What is the book is missing is what to do about it…
