Just Work

Be an upstander

Kim Scott’s Just Work is about how to recognize bias, prejudice, bullying, harassment and physical violations in the workplace and, critically, how we as leaders can prevent and address these injustices. While the over-arching models Scott attempts to utilize to illustrate how to move toward a collaborative and just organization are fairly academic (the x-y axis in her previous book Radical Candor seemed to fit better), the methods for confronting each of the types of injustice are both insightful and pragmatic. The anecdotes she provides definitely enable the reader to develop more sensitivity to their own biases and look at situations through the lens of the others. Never easy, but very important tools to have as leaders.
