Citizen Soldiers

--

I picked this up while browsing the nonfiction section at the library with my son Luke. We’ve been on a WWII history kick lately and I have only read Ambrose’s “Band of Brothers.” “Citizen Soldiers” is a harrowing narrative that covers the experiences of ordinary American troops from the Normandy invasion to the end of World War II in Europe. This book does not pull any punches as to the brutality and desperation of the war. The courage and perseverance displayed by these young men was immense and their sacrifice should never be forgotten.
